Regularly featured character on DS9 made up of two different species. Dax is played by Terry Farrell. Dax is a member of the symbiotic species known as the Trill. Jadzia, a 28-year-old female humanoid with a series of intricate, freckle like markings from her temples down to her feet, is the host body. As a symbiote, Dax resembles a large worm, and Jadzia is his seventh host, meaning he has lived seven lifetimes and is over 300 years old. Jadzia shares his many lives' memories once they are physically fused and become one being. Dax is a brilliant scientist. Jadzia is also brilliant, with several doctorates and degrees in exobiology, zoology, astrophysics, and exoarchaeology, studying all her life in order to be chosen as a host, which is the greatest honour a Trill can give.
