Stars as William Riker also called Number One, on TNG. His other acting credits include Falcon Crest, Paper Dolls, Bare Essence, and regular appearances on the soap opera The Doctors. A stage actor both on and off Broadway, he also appeared in the TV movie The Nutcracker and in the miniseries Dream West and North and South. Born in Pennsylvania, he attended Penn State and Harvard, where he studied psychology. He currently lives in Los Angeles and is married to actress Genie Francis (Laura, of Luke and Laura fame on General Hospital, and a regular on Days of our lives). He has also directed the TNG episodes "The Offspring," "The Drumhead," "Reunion," Cause and Effect," "The Quality of Life," and "The Chase." He has also directed many Deep Space Nine episodes and Voyager. Most importantly though he most recently directed the feature film First Contact, The Next Generation's first outing by themselves on the big screen.
